Wampus Community Guidelines

Effective [EFFECTIVE DATE]

Chaos Champs is more fun when everyone plays fair and feels welcome. These rules apply everywhere you play a Wampus game: on your phone, online and at arcade cabinets.

1. The short version

  • Play fair. No cheating, hacking or using bugs.
  • Be kind. No hateful, rude or scary names, and no bullying.
  • Keep it private. Never put your real name, address, school or phone number in your player name.
  • Your account is yours. Don't sell it, buy one, or share it.
  • We are the only Wampus. Don't pretend to be us, and never give anyone your sign-in code.
  • Report and block players who break these rules.

2. Player names

Your player name is seen by everyone you play with, including kids. A name is not allowed if it:

  • is rude, sexual, hateful or threatening, or talks about hurting yourself or others;
  • attacks people for their race, ethnicity, religion, nationality, gender, sexual orientation, disability or age;
  • is about drugs, alcohol or crime;
  • includes personal information: a real full name, address, school, phone number, email or social media account (yours or anyone else's);
  • pretends to be someone else: a Wampus staff member, a moderator, a famous person, or another player;
  • advertises something, such as a website, a channel or a service.

Our name filter catches many bad words, but not all of them. A name that gets past the filter can still break these rules. Players under 16 choose from names we make up for them.

3. Play fair

Not allowed:

  • Cheats and hacks: modified apps, scripts, macros, aim helpers, or any tool that plays for you or gives you an advantage.
  • Exploits: using a bug on purpose to win, get crowns or reach places you shouldn't. If you find a bug, tell us at yo@wampus.games instead.
  • Fixing results: losing on purpose, swapping wins with friends or other players, or "feeding" the other team to move crowns up or down.
  • Messing with the game: attacking our servers or other players' connections, or trying to get around a block or a ban.

Allowed: one person playing several seats at an arcade cabinet.

Sometimes a player in your match is a computer-controlled player. That is part of the game, not cheating. See section 6 of the Terms of Service.

4. Be kind

Not allowed:

  • Bullying and harassment: picking on a player, following them from match to match to bother them, or getting others to gang up on them.
  • Griefing: ruining a match for your own team on purpose (for example, standing still, helping the other team, or throwing away the objective).
  • Threats: of any kind, even as a joke.
  • False reports: reporting someone who did nothing wrong, or asking others to do it.

5. Your account is yours

  • Don't sell, buy, trade, give away, share or lend an account, or any skin.
  • Don't pay anyone to play on your account for you ("boosting"), and don't offer to do it for others.
  • Keep your email account safe: anyone who can read it can sign in to your Wampus ID.

6. Don't pretend to be Wampus

  • Don't pretend to be Wampus, a Wampus staff member or a moderator, in your name or anywhere else.
  • Wampus will never ask you for your sign-in code, your email password or payment details. If someone does, they are not us. Don't answer, and tell us at yo@wampus.games.
  • Our only official contact address is yo@wampus.games, and our website is https://wampus.games.

7. Staying safe

  • Never share personal information with people you meet through a game.
  • If you are under 16: if anything in a game makes you feel upset or unsafe, stop playing, tell a parent, guardian or other grown-up you trust, and use REPORT.
  • At an arcade: follow the venue's rules and staff. When you are done, you can just walk away: your sign-in at the cabinet ends on its own.

8. How to report and block

  • Report: on the end-of-match screen, tap "..." on a player's card, then REPORT, and choose a reason: their name, cheating or griefing.
  • Block: from the same menu. You will see a blocked player's name as "Player", and we try not to put you in the same match. They are not told. Your blocked list is on your profile, where you can unblock.
  • What happens next: a person on our team aims to review reports within 72 hours. We don't tell the reported player who reported them, and we may not tell you what we did. If three different players report the same name within 24 hours, it is shown as "Player" to everyone until we look at it.
  • Something serious or urgent? Email yo@wampus.games. If someone is in danger, contact the police or local emergency services first. [ATTORNEY: the same 72-hour promise goes to reports about computer-controlled players, which are closed without review (Terms of Service 6.5). Decide there whether to say so; this page follows that decision.]

9. What we do when rules are broken

We look at what happened, how serious it was, and whether it happened before. Depending on that, we may:

  1. Warn you.
  2. Hide or replace your name with a made-up one.
  3. Remove crowns, stats or results won unfairly.
  4. Suspend your account for a time.
  5. Ban your account for good, with its skins (including paid ones), and refuse a new Wampus ID with the same email for 365 days.

We can skip steps for serious cases: cheating tools, threats, hate, sexual names, or anything that puts a child at risk can lead straight to a ban. We may also act on other accounts we believe belong to the same person. [ATTORNEY: confirm the ladder may be published as "may", not "will", so staff keep discretion; and whether hate, sexual content and child-safety cases should be stated as an automatic ban.]

10. Appeals

Think we got it wrong? Email yo@wampus.games within [30] days. Tell us your player tag (the code like #4RXQ4669 on your profile) and what happened. A person will look at it again. If we made a mistake, we undo it and give back what we took away. Asking the store for a refund never gets you banned (we only take back the refunded skin).

11. Changes

We may update these guidelines as the games grow. We will post the new version at [https://wampus.games/rules] with its date, and tell you in the game about important changes.

It followed you home.
